Be: The Cure for Dis-ease

Infinite Reflections…

This is intended to be a short post, mostly just because the thought has entered my mind again and I felt writing it down might inspire me to expand on it at another time.

The Nature of Reflections…

I often refer to “pure consciousness” as “God”…I know this label implies all kinds of other “beliefs” or assumptions, but forget those and focus on the meaning that I am intending. “Pure consciousness” is consciousness without the belief that it is separate from itself in any way…it is consciousness that only knows itself (without label or limitation). This consciousness is the ultimate reality of what I refer to as “Unity”…there is nothing but “it”.

All things come from this consciousness…the big bang is nothing more than a way of saying that “one thing” expanded into “many things” (or rather many ways to PERCEIVE “one thing”). All of us, every single living thing, is a reflection of these “many ways”. In essence, we are all variations of the original perception of Unity. We all fall somewhere between complete Acceptance that “I am all that is” and absolute rejection of that idea. Of course this is an infinitely HUGE spectrum…quite literally there is no way to describe how many variations there are because the original “pure consciousness” has no limitations (it is all that is…who else is there to limit it?)..and of course, all things come from it.

Over the course of what we consider to be “Time” the perception of Duality “grows”. Duality itself implies separation between one half and the other (never being simply ONE thing) so each reflection (living being) that is created reflects that denial of Unity. The funny part about the original “pure consciousness” is that it always lies beneath the surface of the perceived Duality…what I mean is that “Good” and “Bad” may be two perceptions of the same thing but the thing itself is still the same. No matter how these “reflections” might struggle to maintain the belief that they are not “all that is” there is the underlying knowledge that they really are (once again, all things come from pure consciousness and therefore KNOW that they are all that is.) God always knows that it is God…but it can experience the perception of denying it truly is God.
I think this also explains the variations of “inner conflict” (and inner peace) that we see and experience…there are some people who very rarely fight their own nature and others who do it constantly.

“Evolution” is believed to be the process of advancing our understanding and interaction with reality…I think what we forget is that in the “beginning” there was perfect harmony with reality because the original “pure consciousness” knew that it WAS reality…there was no separation because it was “all that is”. With this in mind, it seems like our pursuit of evolution is actually the process of returning to that “pure consciousness”.

It seems as though we are abandoning “Duality” more and more…insights, events in our realities, conversations, etc…all of these things seem to be turning more and more of us towards inner knowledge. Eventually this search for “inner truth” is going to lead us back to pure consciousness. Eventually someone, somewhere, is going to take a “leap of faith” and explore the possibility that it might be “just them”. After that possibility is opened other reflections will share it and take it a step further…this process will continue until one reflection no longer sees it as a possibility, but as absolute truth.

Eventually, a reflection of “God” (pure consciousness) will experience reality without the denial that it is “all that is”. This reflection will cease to be a reflection by its own choice…it will choose to be the source. What came from Unity will always return to Unity.

Just letting my thoughts take me (no actual destination in mind),

Listen very closely….

We, as a species, have fallen into the habit of listening to others more than we listen to ourselves. Think about it…everything you “think” you know about the world has been taught to you by someone else. Whether you believe in “gravity”, “god”, “history” or even “magic”…that fact is that you were taught that these concepts exist from another person (or many other people). How often do you wait to form an opinion on something until you hear other opinions first?

Scientists tell us that reality is created out of “energy”…they show us models and diagrams and make their case look very impressive…and so we believe them. But if you take away the labels, models, and theories…what are you left with? The same thing you had before you heard their theories…you are left with yourself and “reality”.

The sad fact is that our minds are filled with labels, ideas, definitions, concepts, and theories…and hardly any of them were formed by you. Did you sit down one day and “discover” gravity? No, you were taught that someone else did and that IT does exist. Did you sit down and figure out that the “Sun” is a huge ball of gas and fire? No…someone else told you it was. To you, the sun is just a bright light in the sky that somehow separates night from day. Does it do you any good to know that the sun is made of gas and fire? Not really…it is still that same light in the sky that it always was.

In fact, some of the mystery has gone out of the Sun now hasn’t it? Before it could have represented anything…it could have taught you about Duality and how light and dark are also symbols for good and evil, hot and cold, love or hate…it could have taught you something about the variation of “time” and the similiarities of “moments” that we experience. It could have even taught you that the light you see in your mind seems very similar to the light of the sun you see through your eyes (and maybe there really isn’t much difference). So, did learning someone else’s answer (the sun is made of…) do anything but limit the lessons you COULD have learned? If you think you know what something is, you’ll stop paying attention to what it could be.

This habit of listening to others has gotten out of hand…try it, ask anyone (it doesn’t matter who) what they believe about the world. Gauranteed you will get an answer like “Well, I used to believe in this persons theory, but now I think this belief structure is closer to the point”…not one single part of that sentence involves personal insight. Not one…our answers are always pointing to someone elses ideas, beliefs, writings, or thoughts…but where are our thoughts? What do YOU think?

Too many people seem to think that their own ideas mean nothing.
“I haven’t studied as much as this person”, “I’m not as old as that person”, “I’m not as intelligent”, “I’m not as enlightened”, “I’m not as confident”, etc…all excuses and justifications. All seemingly reasonable reasons to not look inward and figure things out for ourselves. Sad, isn’t it? But yet, here we are…an entire society full of people arguing over which theory is the “correct” theory…and none of those people actually CAME UP WITH THE THEORY. We’re arguing over other peoples ideas and claiming them to be our own. How many times have you heard someone say “I’m buddhist” or “I’m conservative”…doesn’t it strike you as odd that this person is actually admitting to being a blind follower of someone elses ideas?

Now, I’m very fond of the statement “learn from your mistakes” and so I’m trying to do just that. This mistake…this belief that someone else must have the right answer…has been one of the biggest building blocks of “society” as it stands right now. This “society” values money, wealth, and power over life, dignity, and freedom. This “society” passes off responsibility to government, religion, technology, and anything else it can create. This “society” is slowly and surely obliterating any connection we might have with the reality around us and is convincing us that we are all “separate” from each other. So…obviously we are making a mistake, let’s change it. Stop listening to what other people think…stop passing off your own right and ability to SEE your reality for what it is…stop taking the path travelled by all.

Take the road less travelled…your road. You are the only one who can travel it, nobody else can even see it. Its YOUR mind, YOUR reality, and YOUR responsibility.

All of our time and energy is spent searching for the “right path”…just look down and you’ll realize that you’ve always been on it. You’ve always been yourself…and if you listen very closely…you’ll notice that behind all the other voices telling you that THEY are right, you have ALWAYS been speaking the truth.

Stop ignoring yourself,

A Forgetful God

Health and Double Standards

If you’ve read my last article you’ve probably realized that I do not believe in many of the illnesses that plague our society. It’s not that I don’t believe they exist, I simply do not believe that they are “inevitable” as so many people say they are. I’m not trying to sound uncompassionate, I’m trying to promote personal responsibility…I’m saying something very simple “We choose to get sick”. We choose to believe in illness, we choose to believe in human frailty, and we choose to limit our own conscious control over our bodies and mind. I’m not saying that “sick people” are wrong to be sick, I’m saying they have a choice.

Now, because I have every right in the world to choose what I believe I also know that everyone else has that very same right. I’m not about to wander into the cancer ward of a hospital and tell people they’re suffering for nothing…that would be fairly pointless considering that they’re already there and will continue to believe that this is their place (despite what I say)…everyone has the right to choose. So, in most cases, I keep my mouth shut when someone says they’re not feeling well…I’ll try to point out the positives rather than focus on the negatives, but aside from that I don’t come out and say “There is no such thing as Cancer/Lupus/Aids/etc”….there obviously is a such thing…these things do exist to the person who has them, otherwise they would not be real (our belief dictates reality). So I try to show understanding without paying attention to the “disease” (quite literally dis-ease…to not be at ease with oneself)…I try to focus the conversation on our right to choose instead.

Now, it’s been said that I don’t have the right to tell people they are not sick…and that’s absolutely true. I do not have the right to tell anyone anything about what they believe…but then again THEY don’t have the right either. This is a message to all the “poor sick people” out there who shrug off anything I might say but immediately retaliate with accusations that I myself will get sick too. If I don’t have the right to tell you that you can feel better, what gives you the right to tell me I’m going to get sick? Nothing except your need to be right…you need to have people who believe you because otherwise you’re left alone…with your own choice and the responsibility for that choice.

Perhaps instead of protesting so much that your beliefs are right and proven by experts, maybe you should sit and listen to the only true “expert” your body has…the one who has always been with you and knows your body intimately. That’s right…it’s you, not a medical journal and not a doctor. How can you escape conditioned thinking if you’re constantly referring to conditioned information?

You can choose sickness or health, but in avoiding that choice and passing it off to someone or something else you are still making the choice…you are choosing to be irresponsible.

Hoping you feel better,

A Forgetful God

The Medical system is designed to Kill You

For a long time I’ve had an issue with the Medical system…I’ve always wondered why it’s there and what could be the possible downfall of “playing god to others”. Please don’t misunderstand me, I have been to doctors, I’ve had surgery, and I’ve even been on anti-depressants…all of which harmed me more than helped me. Sure, the “symptoms” lessened but the cause of those symptoms worsened.

I never truly understood what bothered me about the medical system until I began to explore my own mind. In the perception of Unity there is only one thing responsible for everything that happens to me…me, I’m responsible. I may not like it, but that does not make it any less true. Knowing this, I have to wonder how much of my own personal responsibility I have willingly given up to doctors and other “specialists”. When did it all start?

As always, it started at the beginning…my beginning anyway. From day one I have willingly believed what others around me have told me to be the truth. I’m not blaming them, by any means, because it was my choice to believe them without looking for myself…but what was I choosing to believe? Labels and Concepts have been surrounding me for my whole life but it wasn’t until recently that I started to look at them for what they are…limitations.

For example, I was brought up to believe that I am “Human”. This word in itself doesn’t seem to mean much, but the implications are huge. A “Human” is made up of cells, blood, and tissue…this implies that we are “separate from reality”, “fragile”, and are in danger of getting “sick”. To be human, your body must be its own entity…basically, your body is not under your control because it is separate from your mind (not brain…mind). Doctors love this idea because it gives them the right to tell you what will go wrong and when…of course, because we’re afraid for our “human bodies”, we never think to question them or where their information comes from.

And so we go to the doctors, listen to what they have to say and agree to buy whatever “medication” they recommend…all the while never thinking that perhaps our body might not be separate from our minds. This realization changes everything…in fact, it makes the profession of “doctor” completely obsolete.

In the perception of Unity all things are reflections of my own mind…circumstances, lessons, meetings, conversations, and even the weather. This also means that the body is not a separate entity at the will of the world, it is completely and utterly under my own control. The body is made up of energy and all energy is created and influenced by my mind. My belief dictates the bodies actions…if I believe I’m sick (or can get sick), I’ll experience sickness.

Most people will disagree with me here for the simple reason that they do not want to be responsible for the things they consider “bad” or “unfair”. This is reasonable, but without this responsibility they will always be playing victim. I do believe in compassion, but how compassionate is it to tell someone they are sick and then let them continue to create that belief in reality? Quoting medical books and doctors will not help, that simply makes these “illnesses” more real because you are labelling them. Psychology is my favourite example of this…I’ll explain.

In psychology there are a thousand and one terms to describe someones “State of mind”…all of these terms are meant to be negative. Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and even ADHD…all labels for what was, at one time, simply an experience. But how does labelling these experiences change them? If you were to tell someone who is having a rough time that they are “depressed” and that it’s a “medical condition” do you think they’ll have an easier time dealing with it or a harder time? I’d say they’ll have more trouble dealing with it because now they have an easy escape from being responsible for the own choice of perception.

“I’m not depressed because I choose to be…it’s a medical disorder!” and poof, no more choice…you’ve already chosen.

Medical science is no different, it’s just easier to scare us with the idea of “death”. Truly, the only reason we go to the doctor is because we believe that “without them we would get sick and die sooner!” – Are you sure? Can you prove it? Historical data cannot be used here because we’re not in history, we’re here in the moment.

To be honest, the belief in my own “eternal being” has changed everything. I rarely get sick anymore (and only when I have first doubted my own divinity), I no longer have problems with asthma or allergies, and I’ve saved a lot of money on useless medications that are only designed to “treat the symptoms” but continue to encourage the belief that I’m sick.

Healthy is a state of mind, when nothing is perceived as Bad or Good there is only experience…without fear of that experience there is no consequence. As a consciousness able to reflect my very nature into both reality and this thing I call my “body”, can I ever truly get sick? Is death possible? Only if I believe so…and only if I listen to the “Experts”.

Happily without Medication,

A Forgetful God

NOTE : I highly recommend any books by Deepak Chopra if you are interested in pursuing recent studies on “mind healing”. It seems that there ARE “experts” who are willing to look into this possibility…what they are finding is extraordinary (and exactly what I’ve just told you…though in greater detail). “Ageless body, Timeless Mind” is one of my favourites.

Creationism and Evolutionism: Two perceptions of the same Truth

It seems that lately there has been quite a lot of controversy and disagreement about the history of Creation. This rivalry has been growing for years now, in communities (both religious and scientific), in our schools, and even in our “courts of law”. After such a long, enduring war of beliefs, one must ask the question…are they ever going to find a middle ground? Are these two views of the world so far apart that they can never meet? Perhaps those who argue are simply not willing to let them.

In my opinion, based on my own observations, I believe that both of these “theories” hold an element of truth but are, by themselves, incomplete. I will not say that either belief is “wrong”, but perhaps that willing lack of bias is the reason that these two seemingly separate perspectives fit so neatly together for me. To be quite honest, I believe the only reason that these two “theories” have never officially met in the middle is because of their followers’ blind devotion to being “right” and someone else being “wrong”. (See why do we need to limit God?)

I’m not going to go into great detail about the personal reasons for everyone’s choice and beliefs; I’ve mentioned them in other articles and will probably re-explore them in the future. I will, however, try to start at the beginning…literally. To do this I must make one thing perfectly clear….no matter what it is, a thought or idea, there are always two ways to look at anything. Duality is the basis of perception as much as it is the basis for our belief in “how this all started”. Knowing this, we must explore both perspectives and their root.

Creationism: The belief that all things were created by God, completely, at the Moment of Creation.

Evolutionism: The belief that all things were created over time, adapting based on the environment and the rules of “survival of the fittest”.

The key to both of these beliefs is actually in the definition. Creationists believe God is not subject to Time while Evolutionists believe that all things are subject to Time. These are the opposing perspectives…and they’re both based on the concept of “Time”.

Before continuing I would like to take a moment to expand on the “concept of Time”. I say “concept” because, as with our beliefs, there are two opposing perspectives…each one valid, each one a choice.

One perspective of Time is that it is Linear…meaning it started “sometime” (the beginning) and continues in a straight line to “some other time” (one would assume this means “the end”). This perspective is based on our observation of “cause and effect” and, of course, our idea of “memory” (more on this in future writings).

However, there is another perspective of time that is equally valid but rarely examined (except for the occasional spiritualist or Quantum Physicist). This perspective states that Time itself is an illusion, that only the current Moment exists. This perspective is also based on observation but has been unfortunately labelled “philosophy”.

In truth, one cannot prove either one of these perspectives to be true. You cannot prove that 5 minutes ago happened any more than 5 minutes from now will happen. You can try, many people have, but when it comes down to it you are always in the “here and now”. For example, when you started reading this article it was “here and now”, but you’ve moved forward it seems, you’ve progressed….and yet, you’re still “here and now”. I hope this makes sense because it is vital to the rest of this article.

So, the question remains, how can two opposing perspectives meet?

Easily if one can admit that they are both true as much as false. The single biggest cause of strife or separation is our need to be “correct”….this need is based on our own need to feel better about ourselves and, of course, to define ourselves. In fact, without this need, one can see that all perspectives of reality are equally valid. But what do we see?

In The Beginning

Both the scientific community and the religious community agree on one thing when it comes to creation. They agree that it started somewhere…whether you believe in the Big Bang or The Void the beginning is always “nothingness”.

The Big Bang

For the most part, scientists believe that all matter, broken down far enough, is the same thing…in fact, this thing is not measurable and beyond description. It is so infinitely small that one could actually say it is without size at all. This “energy” makes up everything, living or otherwise. This energy, in its original form, is the foundation of our material reality.

The Big Bang theory is simply an explanation of the “steps” this energy went through in becoming what we see it to be today.

(For a beautifully well designed chart of the Big Bang Process, visit www.crystalinks.com/bigbang.html)

Remembering the concept of “Time” it is easy to see how this theory came into being. One thing must follow another, and another, and so on…thus, the Big Bang Theory. This theory still states that the “Beginning” is indescribable…in essence, before there was something, there was nothing. That nothingness “evolved” and “expanded” into different variations of itself and, over “Time” formed the Universe. Makes sense, right? Let’s move on.

The Void (Genesis)

Creation theory is much simpler to explain, and at the same time much more complicated because it delves into “the mind of God”. To put it plainly, creation theory is the belief that all things were created by God at the Beginning. Genesis states that in the Beginning there was “The Void” and “God was the Void and the Void was God”.

If you’ll notice, this theory still believes in that “nothingness” previously described…the only difference here is that “nothingness” had a consciousness. It was Aware. So, “nothingness” and “God” are actually the same thing…quite literally, everything (remember, first there was only the Void).

Now, following this logic, nothingness became reality. Genesis describes this as a “Seven Day” process, but remember that “nothingness” has no Time so a “Day” means absolutely nothing. Keeping this in mind, we see that Genesis is not very different from the above image of the Big Bang…it is a list of steps for the creation of the universe.

But, does God need “Time” if it is everything? Further exploration is necessary.

Duality and Unity

This is going to be the most difficult part of this essay so I ask for your patience and an open-mind. For just a quick moment let’s discuss the nature of Reality. After all, whether it is Creationism or Evolutionism the real focus here is the observation of the reality we all experience…right? Right. So, throwing our need to be correct aside, let’s actually look at reality without bias or assumption.

Reality (the world and our mind) is a complex mixture of equal and opposite perceptions. To put it simply, everything exists in a state of Duality. For Hot you have Cold, Light/Dark, Hard/Soft, Pleasure/Pain, Faith/Fear, etc…this state is constant, without it there would be no experience and no reality. How could you experience Hot if the experience of Cold didn’t exist?

The tricky part about understanding the “Beginning” is that this concept does not fall into Duality. What I mean here is that The Void is one thing. This nothingness is still something, but there is only one of it. One thing does not have Duality…it is simple Unity.

This is the biggest stumbling block in our understanding of God, Reality, or Creation. We cannot grasp how One Thing (nothing) became so many variations of itself…how did Duality come into being?

There is only one answer to this, and it lies in your existence. One thing cannot be two things, but it can be perceived as two things. Unfortunately, for that to be true there must be a perceiver…that’s you. But who was the perceiver in the Void?

God and Us

Let’s assume, for the moment, that this “nothingness” I have been referring to was actually conscious. Now, as one thing, this consciousness would only be aware of itself. It would not be aware of anything else or the possibility of anything else because it is everything…there is no space or time, there is simply nothingness and the awareness of its existence as that nothingness. This is Unity. But, to experience anything, Duality must exist…and so that consciousness had to perceive itself to be two things. For the first time, the Void was perceived (very important) as separate. There was now a Perceiver and a Perceived.

Before I continue, I would like to point out something very important about this consciousness. Our understanding of this consciousness is entirely dependant upon our own beliefs and limitations. We are talking about “nothingness”…infinitely adaptable (it can be and is the foundation of everything), eternally present (how can something that is everything ever die?), and completely and utterly free (there are no rules to follow). Knowing this, a possibility opens to us. What would you do if you were God? Quite simply…you would do everything.

Everything covers a lot of things, I cannot begin to cover them all, but for the purposes of this exercise let us say that “God” wanted to experience. The perceiver wanted to perceive every possible variation of itself…with Eternity to play with, wouldn’t you? Remember that this “consciousness” can never truly die, it has nothing to fear and nothing to lose…it is everything and always will be. And so, it has no bias…Good or Bad, experience is the only goal.

I realize that I keep stating this, but it is really very important to grasp this concept of “being everything”. I’ll use an example just to be clear…

Currently, you have a countless number of possibilities that can move in and out of your mind. You can imagine purple skies, chocolate cars, and even entire experiences that you are not currently experiencing…we call this imagination, but to a consciousness that is everything there is no such thing as imagination. The mind of God is The Void; therefore any possibility that enters the mind of God is made real because it is within the Void (the building blocks of everything). Think about this, to a mind with no limitation, how many possibilities could exist? An infinite amount…quite literally, anything that could exist does exist because all that is real is within the Void (there is nothing else, remember?).

Now, doing everything doesn’t just imply “playing basketball” or “fishing”…these are actions and not complete “experiences”. A complete experience is not just the action but also the state of mind of the perceiver. This state of mind includes belief, thoughts, doubts, memories, imagination, and even self-imposed limitations. What am I saying? I’m saying that God, in wanting to do everything, wanted to experience every possible variation of self-awareness. There are 2 extremes here and an infinite amount of variations in between.

< – - Complete Awareness Complete Denial – - >

Basically, “God” not only wanted to experience being everything, it very much wanted to experience what it would be like to “not be everything”. It wanted to experience what it would be like to be complete unaware of its own divinity.

Now, of course, God will always be God (everything cannot stop being everything), but because it perceives itself to be separate from the Void it can absolutely convince itself that it is something else. This is the freedom of an unlimited consciousness…it can believe whatever it likes.

The Moment and Time

This is the final step in our exploration of Creationism and Evolutionism because this is where they meet. They meet in the concept of Time, remember? First, let’s look at The Moment.

In The Void (or the Beginning) there is no time. Eternity and a single Moment are the same thing. When Duality was created there was a mass explosion of possible Moments that entered the mind of God (we call this Reality or the Universe). All of these Moments, of course, are still within the Void and therefore exist in the same “place or time”. Hard to grasp? It should be.

Now, remembering that Time does not exist in Unity, we must explore Duality to find it. The perceiver (God convinced it is separate from itself) exists in Duality, and because of that it can experience. But the very concept of experience is based on a series of Moments happening one after another…so Time must be perceived.

The most unbelievable part about this is that, in an infinite amount of possible moments, there is an order to it. There appears to be a story to each of our lives. I mean, with all things existing at once, it is completely possible (to God, all things are) that a Dinosaur could fall out of your fridge at any time…but that doesn’t happen, does it? Out of all the seemingly chaotic events in each of our lives there is also an order. Why? Because “experience” is a broad topic…not only does God want to experience each state of mind, it wants to experience every possible series of experiences as well. Basically, it wanted to be you and everyone else. And here you are, thinking it took you time to read this article, but in reality you’ve never left the Void.

In conclusion, yes the universe was created in steps. Each variation of “nothingness” expanding into another variation of that same nothingness (see the Big Bang image above), but if God (everything) never left the Void, then those steps are only perceived to be separate from each other when, in fact, they all exist at once.

So who is actually correct…The Creationists or the Evolutionists?

Both, they are all the same Perceiver wanting to experience a different perception and state of mind. God wanted to experience everything, even disagreeing with itself.
